We see all sorts of bizarre watches around here, but Ulysse Nardin’s Erotica Jarretière is the first we’ve seen that depicts a couple in the throes of ecstasy. It’s a tribute to the hedonism of the 17th century, or something, but whatever it is, it’s sure to cause a few double takes. The man and woman are both handmade gold jaquemarts that move in rhythm with Ulysse Nardin’s Hourstriker timekeeping device.
The scene on the watch face is set in Venice, Italy, with the couple on a chaise and the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal in the background. A few hastily removed garments are in the foreground.
The Erotica Jarretière is self-winding and the Hourstriker mechanism boasts a 42-hour power reserve. The crystal is anti-reflective and the case back is sapphire-crystal to reveal the watches inner workings. Only 28 will be made available in either 28-karat gold or platinum.
